I have often seen myself as too small a force, to have any impact in this infinite universe that we call home. And perhaps, in the grand scheme of things, I can’t change the universe. But perhaps, I don’t need to. Perhaps, I don’t even need to change the world. Perhaps, it can be enough to change someone’s day. And perhaps, if we all settle for changing someone’s day, we might unintentionally change the world a little too. I know that talking to the 20-year-old refugee and help him with the new language won’t stop the war. I know that giving the girl on the street a sandwich won’t end world hunger. I know that donating my money to healthcare research won’t save everyone who gets sick. But even so, it helps a little more than giving up. Even so, it might save someone. I cannot save the world from suffering. But I can lessen a few people’s suffering in this world. I may be only a small force in this universe, but I am still a force to be reckoned with. And so are you.
